Our new Chief Executive will work closely with the Leader of the Council, Cabinet and other elected Members to deliver on our promises to the people of Bexley.
You’ll ensure that the priorities outlined in our Corporate Plan are embedded in the working practices of the organisation as a whole and that colleagues at all levels understand how their contribution makes a difference to outcomes. It’ll be important to work closely with a range of public and private sector partners to shape comprehensive and joined-up approaches to the key themes that underpin our corporate objectives: growth; environmental sustainability; and strong, resilient and healthy communities. You’ll also promote a culture of innovation and self-sufficiency to enable the organisation to adapt to a changing environment, where commercial and social principles must co-exist and complement each other.
We expect that you’ll already have a considerable track record of leadership within a complex multi-disciplinary organisation. Creative and pragmatic, you’ll be an individual who will ask questions of others, encourage new approaches to service delivery and bring an unrelenting focus on outcomes.
The ability to foster strong relationships with colleagues, partners and elected Members will be crucial; as will an understanding of how public sector organisations can adopt more commercial approaches to be self-reliant and support better outcomes for communities.
